Minimalism rejects the gallery wall
The logic of the bohemian gallery wall (coherent accumulation) or the living room triptych (narrative balance) doesn’t work in minimalism. The minimalist hangs ONE single poster, large enough to stand on its own, on an otherwise empty wall.
Why just one
The minimalist eye is trained to rest on few objects. Multiplying posters in an interior that has already pared down its furniture seems contradictory, even jarring. The room suddenly feels cluttered by visual accumulation, which undoes the balance you are after.
The right size for a single poster
A2 minimum (€39.95), A1 ideally (€54.95). A lone A4 or A3 on a large wall would look lost, as if forgotten. The size creates presence.
Strict placement
At the exact center of the available wall, at eye level from the usual seat (130 cm from the floor for a sofa, 145 cm for a hallway wall viewed standing). Symmetry is essential. No artfully off-center placement.
Monochrome subjects
The minimalist prefers monochrome compositions: strict black and white, beige and black, saturated terracotta on an off-white background. No sophisticated gradients, no rich mix of colors.
The invisible frame
Thin 1 cm matte black aluminum, or a very clean light wood frame of 1 to 2 cm. The frame disappears, the poster exists.

A single large-format poster to sign off a minimalist look
Minimalism rejects accumulation. A single large-format poster radically changes how a room is perceived. It draws the eye, sets the axis, and gives the rest of the furniture its reason for being. It is minimalism’s most powerful decorating weapon.
Why just one poster in minimalism
Minimalism calls for pared-down simplicity, not accumulation. A single large-format poster becomes the focal point around which everything is organized. Several posters fall back into the scattered look the style rejects.
The right size
A1 minimum (59.4 × 84.1 cm). A0 on request for very large spaces. Avoid A2, which looks timid in a minimalist setting.
The right subject
High-contrast black and white illustration. Architectural photography. Graphic lines. A stripped-down monument (the Eiffel Tower in silhouette). See our black and white collection.
The right frame
Matte black or matte white, thin 1 to 2 cm molding. No mat, or a pure white mat of 8 mm. An IKEA Ribba in matte black is enough.
The right placement
Above the sofa, centered. Above the fireplace, centered. On the main wall of the bedroom, centered. Centering is part of minimalism.
Pitfalls to avoid
Multiplying posters (it breaks the minimalism). A size that is too small. A subject that is too colorful or too busy. An ornate frame that contradicts the clean look.
To see how clean lines can hold a wall even in color, take a look at these 2 illustrations: Eiffel Tower and Parisian street lamp poster and Poster of a shaper sculpting a surfboard in his workshop.
