about this poster

Quill and inkwell poster, “THE WRITTEN WORD”

Standing in a glass inkwell, a feather quill waits on a writing desk. Around it, an ink-stained sheet, a wax seal and a candle tell of a letter in progress, perhaps written by the light of evening. The scene is calm and refined, and the powder pink and deep blue tones give it a soft elegance. This quill and inkwell poster pays tribute to correspondence and the art of handwriting, under the title “THE WRITTEN WORD”.

A poster for the desk of a writer or a reader

It is right at home in an office, a library, a reading nook, a bedroom or an entryway where you set down the mail. Its powder pink and deep blue pair well with dark wood, brass, velvet and midnight blue, dark green or cream walls. You can pair it with other book or stationery posters. A great gift for a writer, a friend who keeps a journal, a calligrapher, a literature teacher or a fountain pen collector.

Your questions

What does “THE WRITTEN WORD” mean?

The title is a tribute to writing itself. It accompanies a feather quill in an inkwell, an ink-stained sheet, a wax seal and a candle, as an homage to handwriting.

Who should I give this quill and inkwell poster to?

It will delight a writer, a calligrapher, a friend who still writes letters or a literature teacher. It works very well in an office or a library.

Choosing the size and the spot

Measure the space available on your wall, allowing for the frame you want to use. Then compare the sizes offered on this page and check the orientation of the artwork.

For a set of several posters, also plan the gaps between the frames. Keep your decor away from water splashes and heat sources.
